We strive to offer a welcoming environment that delivers quality and courteous service to our guests. The golf course serves as an important learning laboratory for university students and as a touchpoint to the community and region.

The mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and recordkeeping of all equipment at UIGC. The mechanic also supervises and provides guidance and assistance to other staff members regarding the safe use and operation of equipment. On some limited occasions, the mechanic participates directly in management, maintenance, and improvement of the golf course and associated infrastructure.

The mechanic/maintenance technician is a full-time, fully-benefitted, hourly/overtime-eligible position. Wage is $27 / hr or higher, depending on experience and education. Other benefits include golfing privileges, vacation and sick leave, participation in group medical/dental/vision/retirement plans, IEGCSA and GCSAA dues paid, reduced-rate tuition at the University of Idaho for employees and their family members, and potential Public Service Loan Forgiveness, in addition to other perks and discount programs.

As such, the mechanic spends most of their time during the season performing routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep tasks while the off-season is typically filled with annual services, overhauls, projects, and some limited participation in snow removal.

The typical work week for this position is 40 hours. Start times may vary throughout the year, based upon daylight and business requirements. The successful candidate will work approximately one weekend per month during the golf season (in rotation with other managers) and will be expected to work some overtime during occasional projects, a few golf tournaments each season, and aerification, which occurs twice per year.
